Chelsea are planning a significant reshaping of their squad this summer, with at least six players expected to leave Stamford Bridge, according to a report from The Athletic. The club is also aiming to bring in two new signings as manager Xabi Alonso looks to build for the future.
Marc Cucurella is the first confirmed departure, completing a €60 million (£52m) move to Real Madrid after reportedly becoming frustrated with the club’s focus on youth development. Fellow midfielder Enzo Fernandez is also a target for Los Blancos, with manager Jose Mourinho keen to bolster his midfield options. Chelsea are said to be ‘prepared to sell’ Fernandez for a fee of around £120m.
Several other players face uncertain futures. Liam Delap, who has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea, is a ‘real contender’ to leave, with the club seeking £40m for the Englishman. Marc Guiu, despite his potential, could be offloaded either on loan or permanently, with Chelsea valuing him at €25m (£21.5m) after acquiring him for just €6m. However, striker Joao Pedro will not be allowed to leave, despite interest from Barcelona.
Axel Disasi, returning from a loan spell at West Ham United, is available for £20m, while goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is valued at £15m. Tyrique George’s future is also unclear, with Chelsea open to offers if Everton do not trigger their £25m option to buy. Caleb Wiley, Kendry Paez, and Deivid Washington are all set to be loaned out, and Gabriel Slonina could follow suit or be sold, while David Datro Fofana is expected to leave permanently.
Despite the planned departures, Chelsea are actively pursuing new additions. Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix is a ‘main target’ in defence, while Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is being considered as a versatile attacking option, though his price tag is estimated at £80-100m and would face competition from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. The club has also reportedly made contact with a Real Madrid midfielder as Alonso searches for reinforcements.
Chelsea are also receiving enquiries for Trevoh Chalobah, but are ‘in no rush’ to sell the defender, who is ‘highly regarded’ at the club.
