Chelsea have rejected approaches from several top European clubs for defender Josh Acheampong, according to TEAMtalk. Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Juventus have all reportedly enquired about the 20-year-old, but the Blues have made it clear he is not for sale.
Acheampong has rapidly emerged as a highly-rated young talent at Stamford Bridge, prompting interest from across the continent. However, Chelsea’s hierarchy view the player as a key component of their long-term project and have turned down every offer received. This stance predates the arrival of new manager Xabi Alonso, with senior figures already considering Acheampong untouchable.
The club believes Acheampong is an ideal fit for Alonso’s tactical system, appreciating his versatility, athleticism, and ability on the ball. This conviction has solidified their resolve to retain him, despite potential opportunities to reshape other areas of their defence this summer. Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Mamadou Sarr are all understood to be available for transfer should suitable bids emerge.
Chelsea’s firm stance on Acheampong underscores his importance within the squad. The club also haven’t ruled out potential departures for Wesley Fofana and Malo Gusto, but Acheampong remains a non-negotiable asset. Chelsea anticipate that Acheampong will become a cornerstone of Alonso’s team for years to come, given his ability to feature across the defensive line and even in midfield.
