Juventus, under newly appointed CEO Giovanni Carnevali, are prioritizing Italian players in their transfer strategy, with Federico Chiesa emerging as a key target. Chiesa, currently at Liverpool, has expressed a desire to return to Turin, stating he “never wanted to leave” and “always has Juventus in his heart.” A move in January previously failed to materialize, but the possibility of a loan transfer is now being explored.
Carnevali’s dual role as CEO and General Manager signals a shift towards acquiring players with ties to Italian football, a tactic historically successful for Juventus. The club faces financial constraints imposed by UEFA, requiring them to operate strategically in the transfer market. While needing to strengthen the squad, they must adhere to budgetary limitations.
Chiesa joined Liverpool following a successful period with Juventus, where he won a Serie A title and was a part of Italy’s Euro 2020 winning squad. However, his playing time in England has been limited, with only 527 minutes played in the 2024-25 season and 727 minutes in the recently concluded campaign. He has emphasized his priority is to play regularly, stating he is “ready to fight for his place” wherever he goes.
Juventus are also considering Fiorentina’s Cher Ndour as a potential midfield reinforcement, though a deal could be complicated by a 50% sell-on clause owed to Paris Saint-Germain. Miretti could be offered as part of a deal to Fiorentina, with the club having tracked the Juventus midfielder for some time. Domenico Berardi and Giovanni Leoni are also being considered as potential additions, representing further commitment to the ‘made in Italy’ approach. A loan deal for Leoni, currently recovering from a knee injury at Liverpool, is also a possibility, contingent on improved relations between the two clubs. These moves would aim to bolster Juventus’ squad while navigating their financial challenges.
