Ángel Correa has completed a move to River Plate for a reported fee of €13 million, the Argentinian club has announced. The 31-year-old forward joins River Plate from Tigres UANL, returning to Argentina eleven years after departing San Lorenzo.
Correa’s transfer represents a homecoming for the World Cup winner, who began his professional career with San Lorenzo before moving to Europe in 2014. He spent ten seasons with Atlético de Madrid, becoming a key player for the Spanish side and featuring in 469 matches across all competitions. During his time at Atlético, Correa won a La Liga title and a Europa League in 2018.
Prior to joining Tigres UANL, Correa established himself as a versatile attacking option for Atlético, capable of playing in multiple positions. He often contributed crucial goals and assists, becoming a fan favorite at the Wanda Metropolitano. His recent stint with Tigres saw him play alongside former French international André-Pierre Gignac.
