Inter manager Cristian Chivu has been using his time during the World Cup to scout potential transfer targets while on holiday in Miami with his wife, Adelina. The Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Chivu has been attending matches in the United States, combining leisure with professional observation.
Chivu was present for Argentina’s match against Cape Verde, where he observed Inter captain Lautaro Martinez’s performance. The report highlights Martinez’s tactical work rate for the Argentinian national team as a quality that could benefit Inter in the upcoming season. He also watched Brazil play Scotland and Colombia face Portugal, allowing him to assess a wider range of players.
One player who particularly caught Chivu’s eye was Colombian midfielder Jhon Durán Puerta, who recently won the Spanish second division with Racing Santander. Puerta, born in 2003, has emerged as a promising talent during the tournament. While Inter currently have their sights set on Liverpool’s Curtis Jones for that position, Puerta is a player expected to attract attention from other clubs.
Chivu is in regular contact with Inter’s sporting directors, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio, regarding transfer developments. He is scheduled to return to Milan in the coming days to begin preparations for the team’s pre-season training camp. Inter will begin their pre-season in Donaueschingen, Germany on July 16th, before travelling to Hong Kong and Australia for a series of friendlies. The Serie A season begins on August 22nd with a home match against Monza.
