Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer, marking the first reinforcement under new manager Pierre Sage. The 26-year-old defender joins the London club after his contract with Celta Vigo expired, penning a deal that will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2030.
Mingueza developed through the famed La Masia academy at Barcelona, though he ultimately made his professional breakthrough elsewhere. He spent four seasons with Celta Vigo, establishing himself as a consistent performer with 147 appearances across all competitions, contributing seven goals and 15 assists. The Spaniard has also earned four senior international caps for Spain.
Capable of playing at both right-back and centre-back, Mingueza offers tactical flexibility to Sage’s squad. Crystal Palace already have options at right-back, including Daniel Munoz, but the arrival of Mingueza adds further depth and competition for places within the defensive unit. His versatility will be a valuable asset as Palace navigate a season that includes European football.
Crystal Palace qualified for the Europa League, and the club is actively shaping its squad following the departure of former manager Oliver Glasner. Sage, appointed as Glasner’s replacement, will be hoping Mingueza’s arrival signals the start of a productive summer transfer window. The signing provides defensive reinforcement ahead of a demanding campaign that will see Palace compete on multiple fronts, potentially strengthening their Premier League position and challenging in Europe.
