Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear he has no intention of allowing Destiny Udogie to leave the club this summer, despite reported interest from Italian sides Juventus and Fiorentina. According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have informed potential suitors they are not actively seeking offers for the 23-year-old defender.
Udogie has quickly become a key player under De Zerbi since the Italian’s arrival in North London, mirroring the immediate impact made by Pedro Porro. He started every match for Spurs under De Zerbi except for the away fixture against Wolves, consistently delivering strong performances that have solidified his place in the squad. Sources indicate De Zerbi has communicated to the club’s hierarchy his satisfaction with Udogie’s development and views him as integral to his long-term project at Tottenham.
The club’s confidence in their left-back options has been further bolstered by the recent arrival of Andy Robertson, creating strong competition alongside Udogie. De Zerbi is reportedly pleased with the depth he now possesses across both full-back positions, believing he has one of the strongest collections of players in the Premier League. This depth has reinforced Tottenham’s firm stance against selling Udogie.
Tottenham have reportedly informed intermediaries that it would require a bid of around £50 million to even begin considering a sale, though the club does not anticipate any offer reaching that figure. Instead, internal discussions have already begun regarding the possibility of offering Udogie an improved contract to reflect his importance to the team. This potential new deal would further demonstrate the club’s commitment to the player and De Zerbi’s faith in his abilities. While Juventus and Fiorentina continue to monitor Udogie’s situation, Tottenham are determined to retain him as a core member of their squad, viewing him as a player to build around rather than cash in on.
