Germany international Deniz Undav has extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart until 2029, the club announced on Monday. The new deal includes an option for a further year, securing the forward’s future with the Bundesliga side.
Undav’s previous contract was set to expire in 2027, but both parties have agreed to a significant extension ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The 29-year-old posted a message on Stuttgart’s social media channels, greeting fans with “Looking forward to more beautiful years.”
According to reports from several German outlets, including SWR, Undav’s salary will increase from €4.5 million to up to €6 million per year. He also received a one-time signing bonus in the low seven-figure range. This agreement provides both Undav and Stuttgart with long-term stability, a stated goal of the player in recent interviews.
Undav initially joined Stuttgart on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023, with the club subsequently exercising a purchase option. Brighton retained a buyback clause, but after negotiations, Undav completed a permanent move to Stuttgart. His arrival coincided with a period of significant success for the club.
Since joining Stuttgart, Undav has become integral to their achievements, winning the DFB-Pokal in 2025 and reaching the final again this year. He also played a key role in the team’s qualification for the Champions League, and they have secured a spot in the competition for the upcoming season. Undav finished the 2025/2026 Bundesliga season as the league’s second-highest scorer with 19 goals, trailing only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
Beyond his goalscoring prowess, Undav has emerged as a leader within the Stuttgart squad, captaining the team on multiple occasions in the absence of Atakan Karazor. His positive attitude and approachable personality have also made him a firm fan favorite. The extension secures a key player for Stuttgart as they look to build on their recent successes.
