Lucas Digne has completed a move back to Paris Saint-Germain from Aston Villa, the French club have confirmed. The 33-year-old left-back joins PSG for a fee of approximately €10 million, triggering a release clause in his contract with the Premier League side. He is set to sign a three-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions.
This transfer marks a return to the club for Digne, who previously played for PSG between 2013 and 2015. However, he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter during his initial spell in the French capital, making only 23 appearances across all competitions. Following his departure, he developed into a consistent performer in Serie A with AS Roma and La Liga with FC Barcelona.
Digne has become a mainstay in the Aston Villa squad since joining in January 2022, making 46 Premier League appearances and contributing defensively and offensively from the left-back position. He has also been a regular feature for the French national team, earning 64 caps and featuring in the recent World Cup tournament. His experience and proven quality at the highest level will be valuable assets for PSG.
The move comes as PSG look to further strengthen their squad following a successful season, securing a second consecutive Champions League title. The club has been active in the transfer market, and the addition of Digne provides further competition for places in the squad, particularly at left-back.
