Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer, despite late approaches from several Premier League clubs, according to TEAMtalk. Representatives of the player have received offers from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City in the past week, but have consistently indicated Diomande’s preference is a move to the French capital.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reportedly taking personal control of negotiations with Red Bull Leipzig to secure the transfer. Al-Khelaifi’s existing relationship with Red Bull’s hierarchy is believed to be facilitating progress in talks, with an agreement appearing increasingly likely. Leipzig have internally accepted that Diomande is nearing a departure.
PSG head coach Luis Enrique is keen to have Diomande available immediately, rejecting any potential agreement that would involve a loan back to Leipzig. The French champions are prepared to offer around €110million (£93.5m, $126m) for the 21-year-old.
Liverpool have remained the most persistent of Diomande’s English suitors, maintaining regular contact with the player’s camp in case the PSG deal falters. Arsenal have also renewed their interest following their unsuccessful pursuit of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, while Manchester City have also reaffirmed their interest, particularly with Savinho expected to join Tottenham Hotspur. However, all three clubs have been informed that Diomande’s priority remains a transfer to PSG.
Negotiations are complicated by recent changes to Diomande’s representation, with ongoing discussions regarding image rights. Despite these issues, all parties remain confident that they will not prevent the transfer from being completed. The expectation is that Diomande will be a PSG player next season, despite the continued efforts of Premier League clubs to persuade him otherwise.
