RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has expressed a desire to join Liverpool and potentially replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield, according to sources at TEAMtalk. The Premier League club has reportedly been pursuing Diomande throughout the summer transfer window, anticipating Salah’s departure.
Liverpool have already initiated discussions with Diomande’s representatives, though they face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international. However, The i Paper reports that Diomande specifically favors a move to Liverpool, attracted by the opportunity to succeed the iconic Salah in the team.
Negotiations are currently stalled over the transfer fee, with RB Leipzig demanding a substantial sum for their prized asset. Reports from The i Paper suggest Leipzig are seeking £120 million, while German outlet Bild claim they could potentially demand as much as €150 million (£129.6m). Leipzig are also reportedly keen on offering Diomande a new contract that would include a release clause, hoping to retain his services for at least another season.
Sources indicate that Leipzig themselves are reluctant to sell Diomande, and the player is not actively pushing for a move away from the Bundesliga club. Liverpool’s new head coach, Andoni Iraola, is said to be fully supportive of FSG’s efforts to sign Diomande, but the club may need to identify alternative targets if Leipzig remain firm in their valuation. Should Diomande arrive, he would represent a significant investment in Liverpool’s attacking options as they prepare for a future without Salah.
