RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has acknowledged interest from several of Europe’s leading clubs, including Liverpool, as he approaches a pivotal summer that includes potential World Cup participation with Côte d’Ivoire. The 19-year-old has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga since joining Leipzig from CD Leganés last summer for a reported €20 million.
Diomande has recorded 13 goals and nine assists in 35 appearances for Leipzig this season, quickly establishing himself as a key player for Marco Rose’s side. Speaking during a media roundtable, Diomande stated that the speculation surrounding his future serves as motivation, saying that hearing of interest from clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid is “happy and motivating.” However, he emphasized his current focus remains solely on his performances for Leipzig.
Despite the external attention, Diomande is currently under contract with Leipzig until 2030. While acknowledging that “anything can happen in football,” he expressed gratitude to the club for taking a chance on him, describing the €20 million investment as a “big risk” and stating his desire to repay their faith. He highlighted the club’s support both on and off the pitch, particularly in assisting his family.
Prior to his move to Spain, Diomande had trials with several English clubs, including Chelsea and Crystal Palace, during the 2023/24 season. He described training with Chelsea and observing players like Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace as a “good experience,” but ultimately chose to begin his European career with Leganés.
Diomande has expressed ambitions to become one of the best players in Africa and Europe, and is proud of his rapid rise to prominence, including his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations and qualification for the Champions League. Reports have suggested Leipzig could demand a fee in the region of €100 million for the winger, but for now, Diomande remains focused on the present and preparing for the upcoming World Cup.
