Genk are holding firm, demanding a guaranteed fee of €35million and seeking a total package, including potential add-ons, exceeding €40million. Dortmund’s initial bid was reportedly under €30million, prompting the need for further discussion. The Westphalians are reportedly seeking a fee that is mutually beneficial to both clubs.
Karetsas emerged as a promising talent in Genk’s youth system, making his first team debut last season and quickly establishing himself as a key player. He has already represented Greece at youth international levels, showcasing his potential on a broader stage. His pace and clinical finishing have attracted attention from several European clubs.
Despite interest from AC Milan, Dortmund currently remain in pole position to secure Karetsas’ signature. A significant factor in Dortmund’s favour is the player’s preference for a move to the Bundesliga side, with an agreement in principle already reached with Karetsas and his family. Dortmund’s reputation for developing young talent is likely a key attraction for the forward.
