Borussia Dortmund are set to initiate contract extension negotiations with Julian Ryerson, Waldemar Anton, and Gregor Kobel, according to a report from Sport BILD. The club intends to secure the futures of the three players, who are considered integral to their long-term plans.
Ryerson, currently participating with his national team, significantly enhanced his reputation last season, providing 15 assists in the Bundesliga. Dortmund’s management aims to begin discussions regarding an extension beyond his current 2028 contract this autumn. The 28-year-old’s impressive creative output has made him a valuable asset for BVB.
Defender Waldemar Anton is also a priority for contract renewal, with the club viewing him as “an essential part of the future.” Negotiations for a premature extension, potentially until 2030, are planned to commence immediately following the World Cup. Despite reported interest from Manchester United, Dortmund are confident in retaining Anton’s services.
Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, under contract until 2028, is highly regarded within the club, even being internally assessed as “one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.” Dortmund intends to approach the 28-year-old Swiss international towards the end of the year to discuss a potential extension. However, these talks are contingent on the absence of any compelling offers for Kobel during the current transfer window.
Securing these three players on long-term contracts would provide stability and continuity to the Dortmund squad, solidifying their position as a competitive force in both the Bundesliga and European competitions.
