Inter Milan are already planning for the future following their Serie A title win, with several player movements anticipated this summer. According to reports in Italy, the club is working to extend Cristian Chivu’s contract until 2028, with a salary increase to €3.5 million per season.
Inter’s sporting directors, Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin, are tasked with bolstering the squad with a budget of €40-45 million provided by owners Oaktree, aiming to reach €100 million through player sales. A key aspect of this plan revolves around Denzel Dumfries, who has a release clause of €25 million in his contract, attracting interest from Premier League clubs – a league Dumfries has previously expressed a desire to play in.
Sebastiano Esposito’s loan spell at Cagliari has triggered a mandatory €4 million purchase, with Inter retaining 40% of any future resale value. Valentin Carboni will extend his loan at Racing Club de Avellaneda until 2027. Meanwhile, Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi, and Matteo Darmian are expected to depart, freeing up €11 million in wages.
Davide Frattesi and Luis Henrique are considered the most likely candidates to be sold. Frattesi, who struggled for consistent playing time under Chivu, is valued at €12.8 million, and Inter are seeking offers in the range of €25-30 million. Henrique, signed just a year ago for €17.9 million, also has a price tag of €25-30 million to avoid a financial loss. Inter may also consider offers for players they would prefer to keep, such as Sucic and Diouf, though Chivu is reportedly keen on integrating the latter as a full-back.
Inter also have the option to re-sign Alexandar Stankovic from Bruges for €13 million, potentially selling him on for a profit of around €40 million, though the club are wary of losing a promising talent from their academy. The failed attempt by Marseille to trigger the buy option for Benjamin Pavard does not change Inter's plans, as he was not a key part of their future strategy.
The potential sale of Dumfries could be crucial in funding Inter’s transfer ambitions, allowing them to strengthen their squad and compete both domestically and in Europe.
