Roma forward Paulo Dybala has indicated that he is considering options beyond the Italian club as his contract nears its expiration date. Speaking from Cordoba, Argentina, Dybala stated that “all teams are an option, even Instituto,” adding a lighthearted tone to the situation, according to ESPN. The Argentinian international’s current deal with Roma is set to expire on June 30th.
Dybala arrived in Argentina with his wife and young daughter following the conclusion of the Serie A season. While he expressed a desire to remain with Roma, particularly to compete in the Champions League, he also acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football and the possibility of a different outcome. He specifically mentioned Boca Juniors as a potential destination, alongside other unspecified clubs.
Roma’s management, led by the Friedkin family, have been working to secure Dybala’s future, recognizing his importance to the team despite some injury concerns. The club reportedly offered a contract extension of 2.5 million euros plus bonuses, but Dybala is seeking a two-year deal with a fixed salary of approximately three million euros, along with performance-based bonuses. This difference in valuation has reportedly caused some frustration for the player.
Negotiations have been ongoing through Dybala’s agent, Novel, who is in contact with both the Friedkins and the newly appointed sporting director, Tony D’Amico. However, no decisive meetings have taken place yet. Dybala emphasized his respect for Roma, stating he would refrain from discussing his future in detail until the end of the month. Clubs in Turkey have been suggested as potential suitors capable of meeting Dybala’s wage demands, though no formal offers have been reported. The arrival of D’Amico as sporting director was expected to accelerate talks, and a resolution could arrive in the coming days.
