Paulo Dybala is poised to remain at Roma after the club and the player’s representatives reached an agreement on a contract extension, according to reports in Italy. The Argentina international will reportedly sign a new deal with the Serie A side, effectively ending speculation linking him with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico.
Dybala joined Roma in the summer of 2022 following his departure from Juventus, and quickly established himself as a key player under Jose Mourinho. The forward has contributed significantly to Roma’s attack, scoring 9 goals in 25 Serie A appearances last season despite dealing with injury issues. His performances have made him a fan favourite and a crucial component of the team’s plans.
The agreement, as reported by Roma-based media, includes an initial one-year contract with Roma holding a unilateral option to extend the deal until June 30, 2028. Negotiations had recently accelerated between the club’s leadership and Dybala’s agent, with discussions focusing on the financial details of the extension. The player had taken time to consider the terms of the proposal, but the influence of manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who reportedly stressed Dybala’s importance to the project, proved pivotal.
Dybala’s new salary is expected to be €2.5 million per year, plus bonuses, a reduction from his previous earnings. The final details regarding these bonuses are currently being finalised. Roma officials are aiming to formalise the agreement within the next five days, coinciding with Dybala’s scheduled return to Italy with his family. The club are keen to have the matter resolved before the start of pre-season training. This extension secures a key attacking talent for Roma as they prepare for the upcoming season and strengthens their position within Serie A.
