Jeff Ekhator’s start to life at Juventus has been disrupted by a hamstring injury, sidelining the forward for approximately 20 days. The club confirmed that medical examinations revealed a low-grade biceps femoris muscle injury in his right thigh. The injury occurred during Ekhator’s debut for Juventus in a friendly match against Basel on Saturday, forcing him off the pitch after 28 minutes.
The 18-year-old underwent tests at the J Medical facility, where he was greeted by a number of supporters. He had sustained the injury following a challenge during the match. Ekhator has already begun his rehabilitation program, and the injury is expected to rule him out of upcoming friendlies in Perth, Australia, including matches against Inter on August 8th and Palermo on August 11th.
Ekhator joined Juventus from Genoa earlier this summer as a promising young talent, with the expectation of contributing to the team’s attacking options. His arrival was intended to add depth to the forward line, but this injury throws those plans into question. According to reports, Juventus are now considering a loan move for Ekhator to Parma as part of a deal to bring Dennis Pellegrino to Turin.
However, the club is prioritizing Ekhator’s full recovery before finalizing any loan arrangement. The potential move to Parma would allow Ekhator to gain regular playing time and continue his development, while simultaneously facilitating Juventus’ pursuit of Pellegrino. The situation highlights the challenges of integrating young players and the importance of managing injuries during pre-season. This setback could delay Ekhator’s integration into the Juventus squad and potentially impact his long-term prospects with the club.
