Arsenal have officially signed defender Piero Hincapié on a permanent deal from Club Brugge, following a successful loan spell with the Gunners. The club confirmed the transfer on July 20th, with a reported fee of €56.8 million. Hincapié, an Ecuadorian centre-back, made a positive impression during his loan period, contributing to Arsenal’s defensive solidity and earning a permanent place in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
This move represents a significant investment for Arsenal, who are looking to build on their recent Premier League form. Hincapié’s arrival adds depth and quality to the Arsenal defence, providing competition for places and tactical flexibility. The 22-year-old has quickly established himself as a promising talent in European football, and Arsenal have secured his services in a competitive market.
Arsenal have also completed the signing of Illan Meslier from Leeds United on a free transfer, further strengthening their squad depth. They have also agreed terms with Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, though the deal is yet to be officially announced. However, the Gunners appear to have been beaten to the signature of Morgan Rogers, who is reportedly on the verge of a British record transfer to Chelsea for a fee of €138 million.
Chelsea have been incredibly active in the transfer window, adding several players to Xabi Alonso’s squad. Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Dastan Satpaev and Denner have all joined the Blues this summer. Outgoings have also occurred at Stamford Bridge, with Marc Cucurella moving to Real Madrid, Andrey Santos joining Manchester United, and Tyrique George transferring to Everton. Youngster Jesse Derry has been loaned to Sporting CP for the season.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have been the biggest spenders so far, investing €2567 million in new talent. Manchester City have secured the signature of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a club-record fee, alongside Mathys Detourbet, Jeremy Monga, and Pierce Charles. Liverpool have added Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet to Andoni Iraola’s squad. Barcelona have signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for €80m, while Real Madrid have added Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries to their ranks. Bayern Munich have signed Nathaniel Brown, and AC Milan have secured Goncalo Ramos for €74m.
As of July 20th, no official transfers have been completed in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, or Ligue 1.
