Arsenal have submitted an initial bid of €5.8 million for Leicester City midfielder Jeremy Monga, according to reports. The offer was swiftly rejected by Leicester, who are holding out for a fee of €11.6 million, plus a 15% sell-on clause.
Monga, an England U19 international, has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for several weeks and is reportedly keen to join the Gunners following Leicester’s relegation to League One last season. The 16-year-old has made 37 first-team appearances for Leicester to date, demonstrating his potential despite the club’s recent struggles.
Negotiations are ongoing, and while a transfer tribunal is possible, there is confidence that an agreement can be reached between the two clubs without requiring one. The Times reports the discrepancy in valuation remains the primary obstacle to completing the transfer.
Should Arsenal successfully sign Monga, he is expected to initially feature for the club’s U21 side or be sent out on loan to gain further experience in the English Football League. A place in Mikel Arteta’s first team is not anticipated immediately.
Arsenal are also pursuing other targets this summer, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers identified as a priority signing. The Gunners are currently considered the frontrunners for Rogers’ signature, despite interest from Chelsea. Further targets include Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, and Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. Piero Hincapie is also set to complete a permanent move from Bayer Leverkusen for €52 million after a successful loan spell.
These moves signal Arsenal’s ambition to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and compete at the highest level.
