Aston Villa and Newcastle United have both initiated contact with representatives of Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara, according to sources. The Turkish club are reportedly prepared to sell the Brazil international for a fee in the region of £25 million this summer as they seek to generate funds for their own transfer business.
Galatasaray are keen to balance their squad and finances, and view Sara as a player they could afford to lose for the right price. The 25-year-old previously played in the Premier League for Norwich City and has indicated a desire to return to England, should an opportunity present itself. Several English top-flight clubs are monitoring the situation.
Aston Villa have been specifically identified by TEAMtalk as a club with existing interest in Sara. However, Villa’s recent acquisition of Joao Gomes from Wolves, who shares the same agent as Sara, may reduce their immediate need for another central midfielder, though they are still seeking further additions. Napoli are also reported to be in contention.
A sale would allow Galatasaray to invest in strengthening other areas of their team, while providing a significant return on a key player. For Sara, a return to the Premier League offers a familiar environment, having already adapted to the league’s demands during his time at Norwich. He is reportedly eager to showcase his abilities in what he views as the world’s most competitive league.
While Galatasaray have not yet received any formal offers, they are aware of the growing interest from Premier League clubs. The coming weeks are expected to see further developments, with approaches anticipated from interested parties. European qualification for any potential suitor could be a deciding factor, potentially favouring Aston Villa and presenting a challenge for Newcastle. Galatasaray remain open to negotiation regarding the fee, provided it meets their financial requirements.
