Roma midfielder Neil El Aynaoui has stated his desire to remain with the club, following Morocco’s 1-1 draw with Brazil at the MetLife Stadium. The 22-year-old made his debut in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign for Morocco, featuring in the match against Brazil.
Speaking after the game, El Aynaoui addressed questions about his future, responding affirmatively when asked if he would remain in Rome. “I am doing very well in Rome, very well. Will I stay? Yes, certainly,” he said, according to reports from Italian news outlet Redazione.
El Aynaoui has become a regular feature in Roma’s midfield under manager Daniele De Rossi, making 34 appearances across all competitions this past season. He has demonstrated versatility, capable of playing in multiple positions across the midfield line. His performances have earned him recognition, culminating in a call-up to the Moroccan national team.
The midfielder’s comments will come as a boost to Roma fans, who have seen a period of transition at the club following the arrival of De Rossi as manager. Roma finished sixth in Serie A this season, securing a spot in the Europa League for next season. Retaining key players like El Aynaoui will be crucial as De Rossi looks to build a competitive squad. The club will likely be focused on strengthening in other areas of the pitch during the transfer window, with reports linking them to several attacking targets.
El Aynaoui also spoke about Morocco’s draw against Brazil, stating that the team executed their game plan effectively. He emphasized the team’s focus on their next match against Scotland, noting the coaching staff’s emphasis on taking each game as it comes. He also highlighted the strong partnership he has formed with Ayoub El Kaabi, both on and off the field, contributing to their effective play together.
