Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for the transfer of Moroccan international Ismael Saibari, according to reports from Sky Germany and Sport BILD. The deal is reported to be worth around €55million, including add-ons, with the transfer contingent on Saibari successfully completing a medical and finalising contract details.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who recently scored in Morocco’s 1-1 draw against Brazil, is currently with the national team preparing for their upcoming fixtures. Bayern’s team doctor, Dr. Jochen Hahne, is already in the United States in his capacity as the DFB’s team doctor, potentially allowing for a convenient medical examination on site. However, the process could be delayed until after Morocco’s second World Cup group match to avoid disrupting their preparations for Saturday’s game against Scotland.
Saibari joined PSV in 2022 from Nîmes Olympique, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the Eredivisie. Last season, he made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. His versatility, capable of playing in multiple midfield positions, has attracted the attention of several top European clubs, but Bayern have moved decisively to secure his signature.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Saibari is expected to sign a contract with Bayern Munich that will run until 2031. The transfer represents a significant investment for the Bavarian club as they look to bolster their midfield options ahead of next season. Bayern recently appointed Vincent Kompany as their new manager, and Saibari’s arrival suggests a focus on dynamic, technically gifted players who can contribute both defensively and offensively. The addition of Saibari will provide further competition for places in Bayern's midfield, potentially pushing existing players to elevate their performance levels.
Bayern Munich finished second in the Bundesliga last season, trailing Bayer Leverkusen by 17 points. The club will be aiming to regain the league title and make a stronger impact in the Champions League, and the acquisition of Saibari is a clear indication of their ambition.
