Bayern Munich have begun discussions with Harry Kane regarding a potential contract extension, according to Sky Germany. The initial talks with Kane and his representatives centre around extending his current deal, which runs until 2027, to 2029. Formal negotiations are expected to commence following the conclusion of the World Cup.
Kane joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 for a reported fee of €95 million. The move brought an end to a prolonged transfer saga, with the England captain seeking a new challenge after a successful but trophyless spell in North London. He quickly established himself as a key player for the Bavarian club, becoming their primary goalscorer.
Last season proved exceptionally productive for Kane, who found the net 61 times in 51 appearances across all competitions. His prolific form helped Bayern secure another Bundesliga title and underscored their investment in the striker. Currently, Kane is one of Bayern’s highest earners, with a gross annual salary potentially reaching €25 million.
Despite his commitment to England’s World Cup campaign, Kane is reportedly open to the possibility of remaining at Bayern beyond his existing contract. However, he intends to fully assess his options and make a definitive decision regarding his long-term future after the tournament concludes. The club’s eagerness to secure his services reflects his importance to their attacking plans and their desire for continued success in both domestic and European competitions.
Securing Kane to a longer-term contract would provide Bayern with stability in a crucial position and potentially ward off interest from other top European clubs. It would also signal a continued commitment to building a team around one of the world’s most potent goalscorers.
