Bayern Munich have registered their interest in Atalanta forward Charles De Ketelaere, according to a report in Corriere della Sera. The Bundesliga champions have submitted an inquiry regarding the availability of the 25-year-old Belgian international, though a formal bid has not yet been made.
Atalanta are reportedly open to selling De Ketelaere as the club seeks to generate transfer revenue. The player joined Atalanta last summer from AC Milan on an initial loan deal, which was then made permanent for a reported €22 million. He featured in 31 Serie A matches for Atalanta last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist, playing a role in their strong finish and Champions League qualification.
Bayern’s interest comes after a period of consideration, with discussions taking place prior to their acquisition of Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. While Saibari’s arrival bolsters Bayern’s attacking midfield options, the club are still evaluating potential additions. De Ketelaere’s versatility – he can operate as both a forward and an attacking midfielder – may be appealing to manager Thomas Tuchel.
However, Bayern are not the only club monitoring De Ketelaere’s situation. Several Premier League teams and Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed interest in the player. PSG coach Luis Enrique is reportedly a keen admirer of De Ketelaere, viewing him as a potential alternative to AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche. The competition for his signature could drive up the transfer fee, should Atalanta decide to sell.
De Ketelaere initially rose to prominence at Club Brugge, where his performances earned him a move to AC Milan in 2022. However, his time in Milan was largely unsuccessful, leading to the loan spell at Atalanta where he rediscovered some of his previous form. A move to Bayern would provide De Ketelaere with the opportunity to compete at the highest level of European football and potentially establish himself as a key player for one of the continent’s elite clubs.
