Chelsea are considering a move to re-sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle United, with Manchester United also interested in the 21-year-old left-back. The Blues are actively seeking a replacement for Marc Cucurella, who is expected to complete a transfer to Real Madrid.
Chelsea had initially explored options such as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown and Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso, but both players are now reportedly close to moves to Bayern Munich and remain on Chelsea’s radar respectively. Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo, a former player of Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, has also been heavily recommended, though Barcelona are also monitoring the Spaniard.
Hall progressed through Chelsea’s academy before joining Newcastle in a deal worth over £30 million. Since then, he has significantly developed and is now considered one of the Premier League’s most promising young full-backs, attracting attention from multiple top clubs. Sources indicate that Hall’s representatives are open to considering offers this summer.
However, any potential deal to bring Hall back to Stamford Bridge is likely to be expensive. Newcastle are under no pressure to sell and are expected to demand a fee of around £60 million – double what Chelsea originally received for the player. This valuation presents a challenge for Chelsea, who must weigh the cost against the need to strengthen the left-back position following Cucurella’s anticipated departure. The club will need to determine if Hall represents sufficient value for such a substantial financial outlay.
The race for a new left-back at Chelsea is intensifying, with Cambiaso and Grimaldo remaining under consideration alongside Hall. The club’s decision will likely hinge on a combination of transfer fees, player availability, and Mauricio Pochettino’s assessment of the squad’s needs.
