Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the pursuit of West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, according to The Guardian. The Netherlands international is expected to secure a move following West Ham’s relegation to the Championship.
Summerville, 24, was a standout performer for West Ham last season, contributing to 12 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. His form during the World Cup group stage, where he scored twice, has further increased his profile and attracted attention from several top clubs both within and outside of the Premier League.
Manchester United have been linked with Summerville as a potential solution to bolster their attacking options under manager Michael Carrick, specifically targeting the left wing position. Chelsea’s interest emerges as they also seek to strengthen their forward line this summer, and are monitoring both Summerville and West Ham teammate Jarrod Bowen.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Summerville may be linked to the future of Alejandro Garnacho, who arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer for a fee of €46.2 million from Manchester United. Despite the significant investment, Garnacho scored only one Premier League goal in his debut season, leading to reports that the club may consider a sale if a suitable offer is received. The potential arrival of another left winger, like Summerville, could create space within the squad, particularly with Chelsea lacking European football qualification for the 2026-27 season.
Chelsea have already secured the signing of Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP and are also reportedly close to finalising a deal for Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace. A deal for Summerville is unlikely to progress until the conclusion of the Netherlands’ World Cup campaign, as Chelsea prioritises other transfer targets.
