Eintracht Frankfurt are in advanced talks to sign midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge, though a deal is not yet finalized, according to reports from hessenschau. Sporting director Markus Krösche confirmed the club is in negotiations with the Belgian side, but stated that an agreement on the transfer fee has not yet been reached.
Krösche indicated the transfer window remains relatively quiet due to the ongoing impact of the World Cup and the need for other clubs to generate revenue through sales. Frankfurt, however, have already secured over 80 million euros through the departures of Nathaniel Brown, Aurèle Amenda, and Rasmus Kristensen, providing them with financial flexibility. The club is also looking to trim its squad, with players like Noel Futkeu and Ellyes Skhiri already absent from the training camp, and further decisions expected regarding Junior Dina Ebimbe and Niels Nkounkou.
While Onyedika appears to be the priority for the midfield position, Krösche dismissed suggestions that captain Robin Koch was actively scouting potential signings, jokingly stating, “Let him do my job.” The club is also considering options in other areas, including central defense, the wings, and the goalkeeping position. The name of forward Arnaud Kalimuendo continues to be linked with a move to Frankfurt, but Krösche stated there is currently “no exchange” with Nottingham Forest, where Kalimuendo currently plays.
Krösche was firm in his stance that Can Uzun will not be sold, emphasizing the club’s intention to build the attack around the young playmaker despite reported interest from Galatasaray Istanbul. Regarding the goalkeeping situation, Krösche stated there are currently no plans for changes, though the possibility of Lukas Hradecky being considered as an option remains a topic of speculation. Striker Elye Wahi has been given time to consider offers from other clubs, and will be expected back in training if a suitable transfer cannot be arranged. Krösche conveyed an overall sense of calm and patience, noting that there are still five and a half weeks remaining in the transfer window.
