SC Freiburg are showing interest in TSG Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Muhammed Damar, according to RTL. The move comes as Damar seeks more consistent playing time after a limited role with Hoffenheim during the 2025/26 season.
Damar arrived at Hoffenheim with growing expectations following a successful loan spell with SV Elversberg in the 2. Bundesliga during the 2024/25 campaign. His performances for Elversberg earned him a long-term contract with Hoffenheim, extending his stay in Sinsheim until 2029.
However, the 22-year-old struggled to break into the first team at Hoffenheim this season, making 16 appearances across all competitions but totaling just 279 minutes of action. This lack of game time has prompted speculation about his future, with Freiburg emerging as a potential destination.
Damar represents the Germany U21 international, and his ability to play multiple attacking positions could be attractive to Freiburg manager Christian Streich. Freiburg are currently competing in the upper half of the Bundesliga and could offer Damar a platform to develop his game and gain regular minutes.
No fee has been reported at this time, but Hoffenheim’s commitment to Damar with a long-term contract suggests they may seek a substantial fee for the player. A transfer would allow Damar to reignite his career trajectory while providing Freiburg with a promising young talent.
