Inter have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Ivan Provedel from Lazio for a fee of €3 million, according to reports in Italy. The 32-year-old will sign a contract with the Nerazzurri that runs until 2029.
The transfer represents Inter’s first incoming of the summer transfer window, filling the role of backup goalkeeper to recently promoted Emilio Martinez. While the deal is subject to final approval from Lazio president Claudio Lotito, sources indicate the agreement is essentially complete. Provedel’s agent, Gianni Rava, previously stated that his client is a lifelong Inter supporter and eager to compete for playing time.
Provedel joined Lazio in 2022 from Spezia and quickly established himself as a key player, becoming their first-choice goalkeeper. He played a significant role in Lazio’s Champions League qualification and Coppa Italia success last season, featuring in 38 Serie A matches. Prior to his time at Spezia, the Pordenone-born shot-stopper had spells with Viterbese, Modena, and Carpi, gradually working his way up the Italian football pyramid.
The move to Inter provides Provedel with the opportunity to compete at the highest level and challenge for Serie A titles. Inter, fresh off a Champions League final appearance, are looking to strengthen their squad depth ahead of another demanding season. The arrival of Provedel provides a reliable and experienced backup option for Martinez, ensuring competition and cover in the goalkeeping position. This transfer further solidifies Inter’s position as a dominant force in Italian football.
Provedel is expected to travel to Milan next week to undergo a medical examination and finalize the details of his contract. Inter’s swift move for Provedel signals their intent to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for both domestic and European honours.
