Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is the subject of a transfer approach from Inter Milan, with the Serie A club setting a deadline to complete the deal, according to reports in Italy. The Italian side are hoping to have Jones available for training camp starting July 16th.
Liverpool are reportedly seeking a fee of €30 million for the 23-year-old, including a percentage of any future resale value. Inter Milan’s current offer is around €20 million, but the club are confident Jones’ desire to move to the San Siro will help bridge the gap. Jones reportedly has already agreed personal terms with Inter.
Jones made 31 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring 3 goals. He has been with the club since 2012, progressing through the academy ranks to become a regular member of the first team squad. However, with Liverpool undergoing a period of transition under a new manager, the club are prepared to allow Jones to leave as they reshape the midfield.
The departures of Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson on free transfers, along with Mohamed Salah’s anticipated exit, are creating space within the Liverpool squad and generating funds for new signings. Selling Jones would further contribute to the transfer budget. A successful transfer would allow Liverpool to pursue alternative midfield targets as they look to strengthen their options ahead of the new season.
In separate news, Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari has responded to speculation linking him with a move to Anfield. Ayari, currently participating in a tournament, stated he is focused on the competition and leaving transfer matters to his representatives. He also expressed excitement about the arrival of Zadok Yohanna at Brighton and intends to mentor the young player.
