Inter Milan have reached a full agreement with Anan Khalaili’s agent, Boaz Gorem, over a five-year contract worth €1.8 million per season, according to reports from Italy. The deal is subject to reaching an agreement with the player’s current club, Union Saint Gilloise, with negotiations ongoing regarding a transfer fee.
Napoli had previously made a bid of €15 million for Khalaili, but it was deemed insufficient by the Belgian side, who are now seeking €30 million. Inter’s current offer stands at around €20 million, but there is optimism a deal can be struck, potentially rising to €23 million plus €2 million in bonuses. The pursuit of Khalaili comes after Inter’s previous target, Michael Palestra, proved unattainable, with the club reluctant to meet the reported €50 million asking price.
Inter are looking to strengthen the right side of their defense following a mixed bag of results from previous signings in that position. Denzel Dumfries, signed from PSV Eindhoven, proved a successful acquisition, becoming a key player before a potential move to Real Madrid. However, Tajon Buchanan, purchased from Bruges, failed to make a significant impact, despite generating a profit upon his eventual sale. Luis Henrique, brought in as cover for Dumfries, also did not fully convince, and could be sold if a suitable offer of €25 million arrives.
Khalaili will face the challenge of proving himself in a new league and living up to the expectations placed upon him. The Israeli international has impressed in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, and Inter will hope he can replicate that form in Serie A. Should the transfer be completed, Inter may have three options at right-back, including Khalaili, Dumfries and potentially Sekou Diouf, who is viewed as more suited to a wider role by coach Francesco Chivu.
