Inter Milan are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah following the unexpected collapse of their deal for Marco Palestra, according to reports in Italy. The Nerazzurri had been heavily linked with Palestra, with the club prepared to spend up to €50 million on the young Italian winger, but the player ultimately chose to join Chelsea instead.
Inter had envisioned a long-term project around Palestra, believing he would provide tactical stability on the right wing and increase the Italian representation within the squad. The breakdown of the deal has left the club frustrated and scrambling for alternatives. While Wesley of Roma has been identified as a potential target, his status as a key player for Atalanta complicates any potential transfer.
Another name mentioned in connection with Inter is Fluminense’s Guga, a 1998-born right-back with a Portuguese passport. However, the club is also revisiting options in central defence, with Oumar Solet of Udinese remaining a target. Competition for Solet has emerged from Atletico Madrid, who are also showing strong interest in the French defender. Solet has reportedly expressed a preference for a move to Inter, viewing the club and city as ideal for his career progression.
As a potential alternative, Inter are again considering Trevoh Chalobah. The 24-year-old has previously been linked with a move to the San Siro and is familiar with Milan, having frequently attended fashion week in the city. Chalobah’s availability could be influenced by Chelsea’s recent acquisition of Palestra, creating a potential opportunity for Inter to secure a quality central defender. The possibility of signing Chalobah is further complicated by interest from fellow Serie A side Como. Inter are prioritizing Solet, but are keeping Chalobah as a backup option to avoid a repeat of the disappointment with Palestra.
