Liverpool are monitoring teenage Mexico international Gilberto Mora, but face significant complications in securing his signature, while also revisiting interest in a player previously linked with Manchester United. The 17-year-old Mora impressed at the recent World Cup, featuring in four of Mexico’s five matches, attracting attention from several of Europe’s top clubs.
However, any potential move for Mora is currently on hold due to FIFA regulations preventing international transfers for players under 18. According to insider Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool are among a host of clubs tracking the young star, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. Mora recently signed a contract extension with Tijuana, further complicating matters with the new deal set to run until 2029.
Beyond Mora, Liverpool are reportedly prepared to renew their interest in French midfielder Manu Kone, who has recently been a target for Manchester United. Kone’s development while playing for Roma in Italy has reportedly caught the eye of Liverpool’s recruitment team, though it remains unclear which club is currently in a stronger position to secure his services.
Liverpool are also said to be in talks with Real Oviedo regarding Haissem Hassan, the Egyptian winger who plays alongside Mohamed Salah on the international stage. Hassan provided an assist for Egypt at the World Cup, and Liverpool are considering a move for the 24-year-old, despite his €12million release clause. A previous bid from Celtic has reportedly been rejected, and Liverpool are hoping to negotiate a fee below the release clause. These moves signal a busy summer for the Reds as they look to reshape their squad under their new manager.
The potential arrival of Kone would bolster Liverpool’s midfield options, while Hassan could provide competition and depth on the wing. Securing Mora, though a longer-term project, would represent a significant coup for the club, adding a highly-rated young talent to their ranks.
