Liverpool have reportedly expressed interest in Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso as they begin planning for life after Andy Robertson, according to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale. The Scotland captain will depart Anfield at the end of his contract this summer, prompting the club to seek a high-calibre replacement.
Di Natale reported on X that Liverpool, along with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, have ‘enquired’ about the 26-year-old Italy international. Cambiaso has established himself as a key player for Juventus, contributing three goals and four assists in 44 appearances across all competitions this season. He is under contract with the Turin club until 2029.
The potential move aligns with Liverpool’s need for depth at left-back, with Kostas Tsimikas currently on loan at AS Roma and Milos Kerkez needing competition for the starting role. Arne Slot, the incoming Liverpool manager, will be tasked with rebuilding the squad following Jurgen Klopp’s departure.
Cambiaso’s versatility is a significant asset, as he is comfortable playing as both a left-back and a left wing-back. Former AC Milan assistant manager Mauro Tassotti, who worked with Cambiaso at Genoa, has lauded the player’s ability to use both feet, drawing comparisons to the legendary Paolo Maldini, albeit acknowledging Maldini’s superior physicality and defensive prowess. Tassotti highlighted Cambiaso’s rapid development and adaptability to different tactical systems.
Former Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur manager Igor Tudor has also been vocal about Cambiaso’s potential, stating he possesses the qualities to play for top clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid, or Manchester City. Tudor emphasized that Cambiaso’s success hinges on his own ambition and consistency, urging him to strive for excellence every week. The player’s ability to see the game like a midfielder from a full-back position was also noted by Tudor.
