Liverpool are monitoring two players from RB Leipzig – Yan Diomande and Assan Ouedraogo – with a combined valuation exceeding £156 million, while also expressing interest in Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento, according to recent reports.
The need for reinforcement at right-back has become apparent for Liverpool following a 1-1 draw with Chelsea, where vulnerabilities were exposed in the defensive line. Current options Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong have struggled with injuries, and Arne Slot is reportedly hesitant to fully trust Frimpong defensively. While Denzel Dumfries has been previously linked, Liverpool have now added Livramento to their list of potential targets.
Transfer reporter Ben Jacobs revealed to the Born ‘N Red YouTube channel that Liverpool have “always had appreciation” for Livramento, who is capable of playing on both flanks. Newcastle are expected to make the 23-year-old available as part of a wider squad rebuild, with a price tag of around £70 million. Manchester City and Arsenal have also been linked with Livramento, but Liverpool are now poised to potentially enter the race.
Alongside the pursuit of Livramento, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is reportedly aiming to secure a double deal with RB Leipzig, targeting both Yan Diomande and Assan Ouedraogo. Talks have already begun with Leipzig and Diomande’s representatives regarding a potential €100 million (£86.5m) move. German outlet Bild reports Liverpool are also “keen on Leipzig’s jewel,” Ouedraogo, though his valuation is estimated between €80-100 million (£69-86.5m). Manchester United are also said to be interested in Ouedraogo, potentially creating a competitive transfer battle.
Further reports suggest Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is considering leaving the club at the end of his contract, with Turkish source Fotomac claiming he is open to a move to Galatasaray. However, this claim is viewed with skepticism, as Van Dijk is widely expected to remain at Anfield for at least another season. The potential exit of Van Dijk, alongside previous speculation surrounding Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson, underscores a period of potential change at the club.
These moves signal an intent from Liverpool to significantly strengthen their squad under Arne Slot, addressing key areas of weakness and preparing for a renewed push for domestic and European success.
