Manchester United are continuing to pursue summer reinforcements, with reports indicating interest in both Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba. The club is reportedly facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur for Mbaye, while Baleba is actively pushing for a move to Old Trafford.
United previously missed out on signing Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham earlier in the window. Now, according to United In Focus, both United and Spurs are monitoring Mbaye, an 18-year-old winger who enjoyed a breakthrough season with PSG in 2025/26, making 31 appearances across all competitions. PSG are reportedly seeking around €35million (£30m) for the player, though both Premier League clubs are prepared to offer closer to €25m (£21m).
Mbaye’s desire for more consistent playing time is believed to be the primary driver behind the speculation, having accumulated just over 1,200 minutes of action last season due to the depth of attacking options available to Luis Enrique. The Senegalese international also made history at the World Cup, becoming the youngest African goalscorer in the tournament at 18 years and 142 days. His versatility, capable of playing on either flank or in an attacking midfield role, is appealing to both United and Tottenham.
Separately, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Carlos Baleba is eager to join Manchester United and play under Michael Carrick. United previously showed interest in the 22-year-old midfielder last summer, but INEOS backed away from a potential deal due to Brighton’s asking price of £100million. Baleba’s form reportedly dipped during the 2025/26 campaign, which contributed to United’s initial reluctance. However, TEAMtalk reports that Baleba’s price tag has now fallen to £70m, potentially reopening the door for a transfer.
Romano stated that, as of now, United have not submitted a formal offer for Baleba, but the player’s desire to move to Old Trafford is strong. Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk adds that United remain keen on signing Baleba this summer, although they are also considering other midfield options.
