Manchester United have received a strong endorsement for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, with Tyler Adams praising his team-mate’s development during the recently concluded season. Adams highlighted Scott’s significant progress, suggesting he is ready to take the next step in his career.
Reports indicate that United are prioritizing midfield reinforcements this summer, with Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, Carlos Baleba of Brighton and Hove Albion, and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni all reportedly under consideration. The club has also been linked with Scott, and according to The Athletic, Michael Carrick’s Bournemouth have been approached regarding a potential transfer.
Scott enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, playing a pivotal role in Bournemouth’s sixth-place finish and subsequent qualification for the Europa League. His ball-carrying ability is widely recognized as among the best in the Premier League, making him an attractive prospect for top clubs. Currently with the England national team preparing for the World Cup in North America, Scott is gaining international recognition.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, Adams stated, “Super, super excited [to see Scott training with the England senior team]. He had a great season, I think he took a huge step forward this season.” Adams further emphasized their strong partnership in midfield, noting their complementary skillsets and Scott’s potential. He encouraged Scott to seize any opportunity with the national team.
Scott is in contention to make his England senior debut in the upcoming friendly against Costa Rica. England began their World Cup preparations with a 1-0 victory over New Zealand, led by captain Harry Kane. They will begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 17th, followed by matches against Ghana and Panama.
Separately, Manchester United are nearing the completion of a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, with BBC Sport reporting an agreed fee of €40.5 million (£35m). This would represent United’s first signing of the summer transfer window, addressing a need for defensive reinforcement. The acquisition of Ederson, alongside a potential move for Scott, signals a clear intent to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
