AC Milan have reached an agreement with Markus Krösche to become the club’s new Head of Football, according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto. The Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director is expected to join Milan alongside colleague Timmo Hardung as the Italian club undergoes a significant restructuring ahead of next season.
The move comes as Milan prepare for life under new head coach Rúben Amorim, confirmed as the successor to Stefano Pioli earlier this month. Milan have already confirmed several departures as part of a broader overhaul of the club’s structure, creating the opportunity for Krösche to take on a leading role in shaping the team’s future.
Krösche has been at Eintracht Frankfurt since 2021, having previously held the same position at RB Leipzig. He oversaw Frankfurt’s successful Europa League campaign in 2022, culminating in victory over Rangers in the final. More recently, Frankfurt appointed Adi Hütter as head coach for a second spell, suggesting the club is preparing for Krösche’s potential departure.
Negotiations now turn to agreeing a transfer fee with Eintracht Frankfurt, as Krösche’s release clause is not currently active and will not be until 2027. The exact figure Milan will need to offer remains undisclosed, but the club are reportedly keen to finalize the deal swiftly. The appointment of Krösche and Hardung signals Milan’s intent to implement a more structured approach to football operations, potentially mirroring the models successfully employed at clubs like RB Leipzig.
This move is expected to provide stability in Milan’s front office after a period of uncertainty, and allow Amorim to focus on building a competitive squad for the upcoming Serie A season. Krösche’s experience in German football, and his track record of identifying and developing talent, could prove invaluable as Milan look to challenge for major honours.
