Newcastle United are set to sign Bazoumana Touré from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for a fee of €50 million, according to reports in L’Équipe and The Telegraph. The 20-year-old Ivorian winger or wing-back will sign a five-year contract with the Premier League club. The deal will become Hoffenheim’s record sale, surpassing the €43.5 million Newcastle paid for Joelinton in 2019.
Touré established himself as a key player for Hoffenheim last season, making 32 appearances across all competitions and contributing a significant nine assists alongside five goals. His performances helped Hoffenheim secure a fifth-place finish in the Bundesliga and qualification for the Europa League. The youngster has also been featuring for the Ivory Coast national team, starting in a recent victory against Ecuador and making appearances against Curaçao and Norway.
Newcastle have been active in the transfer market this summer, bolstering their squad with the addition of French goalkeeper Ewen Jouen from Reims for €28.5 million. The club has also generated significant revenue through the sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for a reported €80 million. This financial activity demonstrates Newcastle’s commitment to strengthening their squad while also adhering to financial fair play regulations.
Touré’s arrival provides Newcastle manager Eddie Howe with additional attacking options and tactical flexibility. The Ivorian’s ability to play as either a winger or wing-back will be a valuable asset as Newcastle compete on multiple fronts next season. The signing signals Newcastle’s intent to continue challenging at the top of the Premier League and in European competition.
