Real Madrid are preparing to begin formal contract negotiations with Jude Bellingham following the conclusion of the World Cup, according to TEAMtalk. The Spanish club intends to reward the England international with a new, long-term deal after his impressive performances since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2023.
Club president Florentino Perez and the Madrid hierarchy are prioritizing securing the futures of key players who are expected to form the core of the team for the next decade. While Vinicius Junior’s contract remains a primary concern, Bellingham is also in line for fresh terms following a standout season with Los Blancos.
Bellingham scored eight goals and provided five assists in 40 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid in the 2025/26 campaign. He has continued his excellent form at the World Cup, registering four goals and an assist for England as they progressed to the quarter-final stage. The club believes the initial investment of around £113 million, potentially rising with bonuses, has already been justified by his contributions.
Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer Bellingham a significant pay rise, increasing his weekly salary to over £400,000. This would position him among the highest-paid players in world football, although still behind Kylian Mbappe, the club’s current top earner. The club views Bellingham as a crucial component of their future, alongside Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, and new manager Jose Mourinho is said to be fully supportive of building the team around the midfielder.
Initial discussions between the club and Bellingham’s representatives have already taken place, with both parties reportedly expressing a positive outlook. Despite having three years remaining on his current contract, Real Madrid are eager to eliminate any future uncertainty and extend his stay well into the next decade. Bellingham is said to be thriving in Madrid and is fully committed to the project at the Bernabeu, not currently envisioning a career elsewhere. Formal negotiations are expected to accelerate once England’s World Cup campaign ends, with Real Madrid hoping to finalize the deal before the end of the year.
