Tottenham Hotspur are among a number of Premier League clubs in contact regarding a move for free agent Dusan Vlahovic, formerly of Juventus, according to TEAMtalk. Chelsea and Newcastle United are also maintaining an interest in the Serbian striker, whose departure from Turin has prompted attention from across Europe.
Vlahovic’s reported wage demands of around £150,000 per week, equating to £8million annually, are not considered a barrier for clubs at the higher end of the Premier League. However, the overall financial package, including substantial signing-on bonuses and agent fees, is proving to be a complicating factor for potential suitors.
The 26-year-old has scored 120 goals in 303 senior appearances throughout his career, establishing himself as a proven goalscorer. Juventus initially considered a new contract for Vlahovic, but financial considerations ultimately led to the breakdown of negotiations.
Interestingly, Juventus have recently appointed Giovanni Carnevali as their new general manager and are reportedly open to revisiting talks with Vlahovic in an attempt to retain his services. Despite this, the expectation remains that the striker will move on, with several clubs monitoring the situation closely.
Besiktas of Turkey are also aggressively pursuing Vlahovic, prepared to meet his financial demands with a lucrative two-year contract offer. Atletico Madrid have also expressed interest, but Besiktas’ proposal is viewed as a genuine option by those close to the player. While a final decision is yet to be made, the competition for Vlahovic is intensifying, with Premier League clubs attracted by the opportunity to sign a proven international striker on a free transfer.
