Dusan Vlahovic’s potential transfer to Besiktas is facing significant complications as the Serbian striker continues to delay a decision, according to reports from Italy. Despite receiving a substantial offer from the Turkish club, Vlahovic has not provided a definitive response, prompting growing frustration in Istanbul.
Besiktas presented Vlahovic with a contract worth €10 million per year, including bonuses, and a signing bonus of at least €5 million. The offer was made following direct talks between Vlahovic and club officials in Istanbul at the end of June. Vincenzo Italiano, who previously managed Vlahovic at Fiorentina where he scored 17 goals in 22 matches, is a key advocate for the move, but Vlahovic remains hesitant.
The delay stems from Vlahovic’s hope of attracting interest from a top European club, such as Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, or Bayern Munich, before the transfer window closes. He has not altered his social media profile to reflect a departure from Juventus, continuing to list the club as his current employer alongside the Serbian national team. This suggests a lingering hope of remaining in a prominent European league.
Besiktas are beginning to explore alternative options as their patience wanes. They have reportedly begun sounding out Alexander Sorloth, who is also a target for Juventus, and have inquired about the possibility of a loan deal for Darwin Nunez from Al-Hilal. The Turkish club’s willingness to pursue other targets indicates a diminishing expectation of securing Vlahovic’s signature.
Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has publicly encouraged Vlahovic to initiate talks with the club, stating that the player “knows what I think.” However, any potential return to Juventus would require Vlahovic to significantly reduce his wage demands and bonus expectations, which were a major stumbling block in previous renewal negotiations. The club is also currently focused on securing a deal for Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, further complicating a potential return for Vlahovic.
