The 2026 summer transfer window is approaching, with Premier League clubs able to sign players from June 15th, and other top European leagues following shortly after. Despite the window not officially opening, a number of significant transfers have already been finalized.
Chelsea have been particularly active, securing the signing of Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP for €50.7 million, although the winger will not join the club until July 1st after remaining with his current team for the 2025-26 season. The Blues also announced the permanent signing of Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg last September, a move that reportedly frustrated Strasbourg supporters who valued their captain. However, Emegha has faced injury challenges this season, scoring eight goals in 18 appearances, raising questions about his readiness for a club of Chelsea’s caliber.
Liverpool have also made a substantial investment, acquiring Jérémy Jacquet from Stade Rennais for €63.6 million. The deal came after initial interest from Chelsea, and it remains to be seen how Jacquet will fit into Arne Slot’s plans, particularly with Ibrahima Konate expected to stay at Anfield. Elsewhere, Rasmus Hojlund has completed a permanent move to Napoli from Manchester United for €44 million after a successful loan spell where he scored 15 goals.
Juventus have triggered an obligation-to-buy clause for Lois Openda from RB Leipzig for €42.8 million, despite a disappointing season for the forward, while Donyell Malen has made his loan move from Aston Villa to Roma permanent for €25 million after a strong run of form in Serie A. Georgiy Sudakov has also completed a permanent transfer to Benfica from Shakhtar Donetsk for €20.3 million after a loan spell, and Jakub Kiwior has made his loan move from Arsenal to Porto permanent for €17 million. Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji has joined Inter Milan permanently for €15 million following a loan period, triggered by Inter’s Serie A title win. Chelsea have also secured Dastan Satpaev from Kairat Almaty for €2.4 million, a promising young talent who will join the club after his 18th birthday. These early moves signal an active summer transfer window ahead for Europe’s top clubs.
These completed deals demonstrate proactive planning from several clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season and potential challenges in their respective leagues.
