Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has indicated a desire to add up to six new players to the squad this summer, following their successful defense of both the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League. The comments, made to Canal+ during post-match celebrations, suggest an ambition to build a sustained period of dominance akin to that enjoyed by Real Madrid and Ajax in previous eras.
PSG secured back-to-back league and Champions League titles, becoming only the third club to achieve this feat after Real Madrid (1956-57/1957-58) and Ajax (1971-72/1972-73). Despite this success, Enrique believes further reinforcement is necessary to maintain their position at the top of European football. He reportedly stated a need for “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6” new additions, signaling a more active transfer window than the relatively quiet one of 2025.
The club’s sporting director, Luis Campos, is understood to be under pressure to deliver on Enrique’s ambitions. Previous signings, Illia Zabarnyi and Lucas Chevalier, have not fully convinced, prompting a need for more inspired recruitment. Reports are already circulating regarding potential targets, with Eli Kroupi Junior being prominently mentioned as a young player who would initially serve as a squad option.
Enrique tempered expectations, acknowledging the difficulty of finding players who fit seamlessly into the existing team. He emphasized that while additions are needed to refresh the squad, the core group is strong. Discussions regarding contract extensions for key players such as Enrique himself, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Fabián Ruiz, and Warren Zaïre-Emery are expected to begin shortly. Several fringe players, including Lee Kang-in and Gonçalo Ramos, could be made available for transfer.
The club is also anticipating the need for further investment to maintain a competitive edge over the next few seasons. Enrique believes that new talent is essential to avoid stagnation and continue challenging for major honors. The manager has already begun planning for the 2026-27 season, with the aim of securing a third consecutive Champions League title. He alluded to the possibility of a “three-peat,” using the American basketball term to describe the ambition.
