Everton have renewed their interest in Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu as the recently relegated club prepare for life in League One, according to TEAMtalk. The 22-year-old Ghanaian international has attracted attention from several top-flight clubs, but Everton are considered serious contenders for his signature.
Fatawu joined Leicester from Sporting CP in 2024 and has impressed despite the team’s struggles, registering 16 goals and 23 assists. His pace, trickery, and ability to deliver final product have made him one of Leicester’s most valuable assets. The club are now bracing for a summer of departures, and are reportedly open to offers in the region of £15million to £20million for Fatawu, despite a previous release clause of £30million.
Everton previously considered a move for Fatawu last summer before signing Tyler Dibling from Southampton, but have maintained their admiration for the player. The Toffees are keen to strengthen their attacking options, particularly with Dwight McNeil potentially leaving the club. They have reportedly undertaken extensive scouting and groundwork over the past year, positioning themselves well in the race for his signature.
However, Everton face competition from several other Premier League clubs, including Sunderland, who previously submitted a £27.5million bid last summer. Newly promoted Coventry City have also made contact with Fatawu’s representatives, while Fulham, Brentford, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth have all shown interest at various stages. Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are also monitoring the situation, offering the potential of Champions League football.
Overseas interest also exists, with Napoli and Trabzonspor previously linked, but a move to the Premier League is currently considered the most likely outcome. For Leicester, selling Fatawu is a crucial step in generating funds for a rebuild in League One. For the player, a move to a competitive top-flight league represents an opportunity to further his career.
