Sassuolo manager Fabio Grosso has indicated he will meet with the club’s hierarchy soon to discuss his future following the conclusion of the Serie A season. This comes after Sassuolo’s 1-0 defeat to Parma in their final match, finishing the season with 49 points and a 17th loss of the campaign.
Grosso expressed pride in his team’s performance throughout the season, highlighting their impressive points tally of 49 from 33 games as a testament to their progress. He acknowledged that while there were moments where they could have achieved more, he was pleased with the overall quality displayed by the team, particularly considering their status as newly promoted side.
The coach noted the team faced challenges in the latter part of the season due to the absence of key players, but this provided opportunities for those with less playing time to contribute. Grosso emphasized his focus on the positive aspects of the season and the team’s ability to finish above nine other Serie A clubs, a feat he hadn't initially anticipated.
Grosso stated he intends to approach the upcoming meeting with the club with a calm and objective mindset, aiming to determine the best course of action for both parties. He dedicated his two years with Sassuolo to his father, who unfortunately was not able to experience the full extent of his tenure, but whom he believes was with him in spirit. Parma, meanwhile, secured a 1-0 victory over Sassuolo thanks to a 79th-minute goal from Mateo Pellegrino, finishing the season with 45 points.
Parma’s Carlos Cuesta also spoke after the match, expressing his gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support, particularly during difficult moments. He emphasized the importance of the connection between the players and the supporters, and reiterated his commitment to giving his all for the club. Cuesta also indicated that discussions regarding his own future will take place, with both parties aiming for transparency and exploring the possibility of continued collaboration.
