Jacopo Fazzini has joined Cagliari on a loan deal with an option to buy from Fiorentina, the club confirmed on Monday. The agreement includes an option for Cagliari to make the transfer permanent for a fee between €7 and €8 million. The move sees the 2003-born midfielder reunite with Cagliari’s new sporting director, Pietro Accardi, who previously worked with Fazzini during his time at Empoli.
Fazzini struggled for consistent playing time at Fiorentina last season, making 20 appearances in Serie A and nine in the Conference League. He failed to score in either competition, registering only one assist in the Conference League. Injuries also contributed to his limited role under coach Paolo Vanoli, often finding himself on the bench.
Cagliari will be hoping Fazzini can rediscover the form he showed at Empoli, where he scored four goals and provided one assist. New head coach Fabio Pisacane is expected to utilise the Italian midfielder in multiple roles, including as a central midfielder in a three-man system or as an attacking midfielder. Pisacane has a reputation for developing young talent, having successfully integrated players like Palestra and Gaetano into the first team last season.
The move represents a chance for Fazzini to gain regular playing time and demonstrate his potential. For Cagliari, it’s a low-risk, potentially high-reward signing, adding depth and versatility to their midfield options.
