Fenerbahce are resolute in their intention to retain Archie Brown, despite reported interest from several Premier League clubs, according to TEAMtalk. The Turkish side have internally decided against selling the English left-back after just one season in Istanbul, even as clubs continue to make enquiries.
Nottingham Forest previously saw an approach for Brown rejected earlier in the summer transfer window. Intermediaries have since approached both Chelsea and Manchester United to gauge their interest in a potential deal for the 24-year-old. Both clubs are currently seeking to strengthen their options at left-back ahead of the new season.
Chelsea are in the market for a left-back following Marc Cucurella’s transfer to Real Madrid, and are looking to provide competition for Jorrel Hato. The Blues had initially considered Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo, but he ultimately opted for a return to LaLiga with Atletico Madrid. Negotiations with Rayo Vallecano’s Pep Chavarria have stalled, leading Chelsea to explore alternative options, with Brown among those extensively monitored by club scouts.
Scouts have reportedly been impressed with Brown’s performances in the Turkish Super Lig, believing his athleticism, attacking capabilities, and versatility would align well with the style of football new head coach Xabi Alonso intends to implement at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United also remain attentive to Brown’s situation, having tracked him prior to his £7million move from Gent to Fenerbahce last summer and continuing to monitor his development.
Lewis Hall remains United’s primary target at left-back, but with Newcastle United seemingly unwilling to sell, the Red Devils’ recruitment team are evaluating alternative options. Brown has emerged as one of those contingency plans. The former West Bromwich Albion and Derby County academy player has established himself as a dynamic attacking full-back in Turkey following his move from Belgium.
Despite the interest from England, TEAMtalk understands Fenerbahce have no current desire to sanction a sale. Club sources indicate Brown is a key part of their long-term plans, and they are not presently prepared to entertain offers for the player this summer.
