Arsenal have been linked with a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, with former United defender Rio Ferdinand suggesting the Gunners should make a swift offer. The 28-year-old Rashford recently returned to Old Trafford after a loan spell at Barcelona, where a permanent transfer ultimately did not materialize following the Catalan club’s acquisition of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
According to reports, Rashford is now available for a transfer fee of around £40 million, excluding moves to Manchester City and Liverpool. Ferdinand believes this price represents good value, stating on his YouTube channel that he would “sweep Marcus Rashford off his feet” for that fee. The suggestion comes as Arsenal assess options to strengthen their left wing, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
Arsenal have also been linked with other potential targets, including Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers for the number ten role and Christos Tzolis of Club Brugge, as well as Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola. However, Ferdinand’s endorsement adds weight to the possibility of a move for Rashford, who has struggled for consistent playing time in recent seasons.
Arsenal legend David Seaman has also voiced support for signing Rashford, describing him as a “real talent” despite acknowledging potential complications regarding existing squad members. Seaman suggested that acquiring Rashford might necessitate the departure of either Martinelli or Trossard. A move for Rashford would provide Mikel Arteta with another attacking option and potentially increase competition for places within the squad, furthering Arsenal’s ambitions in the Premier League and European competitions.
